The concept behind the “Public Book” was to use sketches I made while riding MTA subway cars, and cut out the details of the figures so as to only leave the setting of the compositions. This book focused on public spaces because it was made during the quarantine period aka “lockdown” during spring 2020 of the Covid-19 pandemic, when public spaces were the only places to see art, people, and anything that resembled ordinary times. The color palette is restricted to the colors of the different train lines from the NYC subways. The book is also made using recycled materials like bottle plastics for the binding and cardboard for the pages.
